Halid's singing career was one of the most successful in , and continues today throughout the entire Balkan region. Bešlić was born in the village near , , while it was part of. His father Mujo Bešlić, a military man, died 1 April 2016 at the age of 83 in a Sarajevo hospital following a short illness. Halid, who was on tour in the United States at the time, took a flight and arrived to his fathers funeral just two hours before the procession in a village by , where the elder Bešlić had lived since the start of the Bosnian War in 1992. After serving a mandatory stint in the , Bešlić moved from Knežina to and began performing at local restaurants. After several years, his first musical releases were eight between 1979 and 1982, with his first studio album, entitled White Haired Old Man , being released in 1981. Since then, Bešlić has recorded 17 albums and staged countless concerts. Halid also had several hit songs in the 2000s and 2010s. The 2003 album featured the hit song of the same name. Bešlić married his wife Sejda in November 1977. In the 1990s, during the , Bosnia and Bešlić staged more than 500 humanitarian concerts across for the victims in his home country. Bešlić has earned many awards and much financial success from his singing. Among his business interests is a gas station and hotel in the outskirts of Sarajevo. Bešlić who was not wearing his seat belt had suffered serious injuries to his face and right eye, initially being in a coma.
