I have a campground lot with a 50 amp breaker box. I want to put the 100 amp wire into one end of a bullet and the 50 amp wire into the other end, crimp it, and plug it into the 50 amp breaker box. It is in no way close to the size of the smallest manufactured homes I have seen. It is 30 feet long and 12 feet wide. Actually, my 5th wheel trailer is larger and 50 amp. I have seen these units wired for 30, 50 and 100 amp service. Personally I believe 100 amp is a hell of an overkill. It is hard wired presently. I was going to hard wire the plug to it so it could be plugged into the campground 50 amp receptacle. The only problem I could figure was that if the 50 hookups was exceeded it would trip the breaker. I would hate to have to run 2 or 4 wire to the campground plug and change it to 100 amp. Actually, I would just buy a park model with a 50 amp service if that was the only alternative. And, by the way, this internet stuff is shit, ain't it? Expert: Personally - if I were you I would just replace the entire cable from the breaker box out. But if you do have a where the panel wiring meets the shore line, then you can make your splices in there. Now keep in mind 50amps is allot of power. Even your 40' homes dont use more then that. I was originally talking about splicing the raw 2 wire electrical out of the park of the trailer it has no plug on the end to a 8 or 6 wire with a 50 amp power plug on the end of it so it could be plugged into the 50 amp breaker box. I was also thinking that 50 amp was more than adequate to run the Park Model trailer. And in truth, most of the Park Models come with 50 amp breakers. This model is just overdone in my opinion. But I also figured the worst that could happen is that the model would hookup if I ran too much stuff. But,hey, this is your field of expertise so you know I gotta check with you before I burn the old lady up! Expert: You certainly can splice the wiring, but you will need to get a weather proof junction box - probably a 6x6x4 to install the wiring in. Then you make your splices in there. That way they are safe, and the splices are legal. Does that make sense? Your other option is to terminate this wiring to a 50amp inlet and mount that on the side of your unit. Then you can use a 50amp cord to plug the unit in that way.
