thoughts on running

dealing with the road is always a fair trade- it never takes more than it gives.
it never gives more than it takes, either, and some find this difficult to face.

after a few weeks of running, you come to a point where you realise you're not battling the road but yourself-
there is nothing more pleasing and disturbing at the same time
than realising the barriers you worked so hard to bring down
weren't really there all along.

it's not about the speed. it's not about the stamina. it's not even about building yourself.
it's about exploring your limitations and seeing past them.
it's about trust-
the trust you put in your feet may as well be the trust you put in your closest family and friends.
it's about truth-
the simplest truth of all, that it's only a matter of attitude, and nothing else.
it's an attitude that comes from the heart, and encourages you to move forward and to know that every obstacle you face is overcomeable.

never.
give.
up.

there's always that one extra mile that makes it worthwile.

once you get comfortable with your body, once you realise you have the power to set your limitations as well as to eliminate them, play.
build up your speed, build up your stamina, run in the mountains, run in the fields, set your own rules as you please, you're in control.

plus there's nothing in the world
more enjoyable
nego otuširati se u znoju,
leći na isparavajuć asfalt praznog košarkaškog igrališta malo prije ponoći
i zaroniti u zvjezdano nebo prošarano bijelim vatastim oblacima
a jedino društvo ti pravi mali jež u obližnjem grmu

your joints may hurt a bit, yes
you may realise your favourite sneakers aren't as friendly as you thought they'd be
and you may beat yourself up because you didn't give it your best on this particular day
but hey. trust me. you'll soon indulge on all of these faults as if they were the greatest treasure in the world.
