The polarizing filter used with most modern cameras is a circular polarizer. The first stage of the polarizer is a linear filter which filters out light that is linearly polarized in a specific direction.
A common filter that removes reflections from water, glass and other surfaces, it also increases colour saturation.
(polarizing filters) Used on camera lenses to selectively remove excess light.
A photographic or optical filter that polarizes the light passing through it, used chiefly for reducing reflections and improving contrast. Two polarizing filters are often used together, such that rotation of one of them results in a neutral density filter of variable density
questions, questions, can anybody help me?
I got a remote for Christmas too :):) And I would like to get a polarizing filter for my trip to Puerta Vallarta. Any idea how much one of those costs? I am thinking about getting a 77mm and then a few step ups. I've heard that that's the way to go with filters. Any help on this would be appreciated!! Now the only things that I would like to get for my camera are a rainsleeve, lens cleaning kit, macro lens (which will be a while), and an LCD protector.
Oh, and another thing that I would like to ask. I am taking my mom's maternity photos in a couple of months, and I wanted a black background. What is the best and cheapest material to do that? I was thinking black velour, but I'm not sure how cheap it is or where to get it. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks :)
And just so you guys know, I am taking and uploading a picture everyday. Don't trust the little place on the right side of the screen, it LIES. I don't know what's up with it though. I took this picture today, on December 27th, and it says that it was taken on December 26th, so I changed it to say the 27th. Hmph, stupid flickr day changing thing :(

I run 2 photo projects. This one, on Flickr, that I would define as "experimental". This is mostly a place where I venture tentatively in some fields of photography that I didn’t explore before. All the pictures are made with the Ricoh GRDII, a versatile small sensor camera that I feel convenient for this use.
The second one, built as an independent website (www.x1280y1024.net) is a place where I mostly dig the same old way, the one that fits me best. I used different cameras from 2002 until now, but for 1 year and half, I always used the first DSLR I ever had: the Samsung GX10, with 2 lenses: the excellent Pentax 12-24mm f/4 (90% of my shots) and the Sigma 24-60 f/2.8.
Saturday 16 August, 2 days before my birthday, the Samsung, the 2 lenses, a Polarizing filter Hoya 77mm, and a variety of accessories were stolen.
