High Pass Filter Application

SB-24 in shoot-through umbrella camera right and above @ 1/16 power, manual settings, triggered with PT-04 wireless triggers.
The requirements of the client (medical lab examining blood samples of patients) were: bluish colour, motif of hands, and some orchis (if possible).
Post processing was done in GIMP: high pass filter, duplication of layer, colouring of new layer to blueish hue, and application of a mask that made the portion of the blossom transparent to show the original colour of it (from the bottom layer).
Before/After
as requested a before and after view of the photo in question I love it. I'm still looking for feedback.
rethinking the steps with PSE7 I selected Baby and Dad's hands with the magic lasso tool, then inverted the selection, on a the master hue saturation layer I desaturated and removed all the lightness, then I Processed the rest of the image in black and white, adjusting red blue and green levels as I went and finally converting to black and white, it looks gitty because of a high pass filter application.
