Mike got to drive during the tow in. From the Ins. Report.

At approximately 11:30 am Monday morning at the mouth of Winyah Bay, off Georgetown, South Carolina, we started the engine and dropped the sail. However, the boat would not engage the propeller, so we anchored and called Tow Boat US to bring us in. It took approximately 5 hours to tow us up the creek against an ebbing tide to get up to the marina. We docked the boat at Georgetown Landing Marina in Georgetown, South Carolina. We advised the Coast Guard that we were safely moored. I arranged hotel rooms for the crew and began cleaning up the boat.


All the floor boards were opened and water removed. All the sails were dried, and food stuffs taken off the boat. We locked the boat, headed for sleep, then drove home, arriving in Annapolis Tuesday evening around 9 pm.


Here is an inventory of what we believe was damaged on the boat, although this is not to be considered an all inclusive list:


#3 North Jib jettisoned overboard during storm (with battens)

Jib sheets attached to #3 lost when jib was jettisoned

3 missing battens in delivery main sail

1 tear near missing batten in delivery main sail

Instruments not working (depth sounder, knot meter, Raymarine chart plotter, wind meter)

Autohelm failed (kingpin and electronics)

Stove damaged

Wood veneer damaged when stove was damaged

Compass Light burned up

Propeller (issue not known) - Now known, fell off during transit sometime.

Dodger torn in front lower portion due to waves

Strap on boom holding up mainsheet separated

Toshiba laptop destroyed

Leak from Forward hatch due to broken spline connector, which allowed the frame to separate

Leak from side windows in hull

Leak from stanchions

Stitching needed on storm jib

Forestay stem fitting needs to be checked

V-berth shelves damaged

V-berth headliner damaged

Masthead wind vane blown off

Towing of Overlap to Georgetown Landing Marina ($970)

Foods stuffs destroyed by water
