A window is a vain and hollow high on the floor that opens onto a wall with the purpose of providing light and ventilation to stay relevant. Also called a window to all devices that are used to close that vain.
The term comes from Latin VENTUS (wind), referring to the ability of providing ventilation. Formerly known as the window is fenestrated or also called "finistra" in the same way as is called in Latin and Greek. This would be the direct etymological derivation. However, although this name is now obsolete, if stored words related to it, as defenestrated that means throwing someone through a window.
The hole is framed with vertical sides, by a chaplain or flashing high aléizar it horizontally on the tops antepecho, and a lintel or an arch that closes the top. Both the head (also called the Vehicle), where applicable, the arch, with a mandate to bear the cost of producing the wall or wall that gravitates on the hole and sent the jambs.
The locking mechanism comprises a frame or chassis subject to the internal surface of the shaft, which in turn are determined by appropriate hardware leaves, usually glazed with glass.
