Fuji 617 Panoramic Camera
- Camera flown on the Apollo 15, 16, and 17 missions that imaged the surface of the Moon directly below the spacecraft at high resolution (1 to 2 meters), and at decreasing resolution away from the center of the image out to 54° in both directions.
- Camera with a lens that rotates to scan a scene, all the while projecting the image onto an abnormally wide film frame. The broad sweep of the rotating lens records the scene without distortion, and is very useful for photographing expansive landscape scenes and large groups of people.
- Panoramic photography is a technique of photography, using specialized equipment or software, that captures images with elongated fields of view. It is sometimes known as wide format photography. The term has also been applied to a photograph that is cropped to a relatively wide aspect ratio.

Enveloped
This spot was shown to me by Ben one night back in December, I think it was. The initial night we went out there I lugged the Fuji 617 with me, simply because that is what one does when they are borrowing that camera - take it everywhere with you. Unfortunately I neglected to bring the cable release. Having learned through experience that I cannot hold down the shutter button for several minutes without jostling the camera, I did not attempt a photo that night. So I went back a couple of nights later with a cable release. I got the photo set up and hoped that I remembered which film I had loaded in the camera a week or two before. Thankfully I guessed correctly.
This is a pretty killer view, thanks again Ben. That was awesome.
Last spring 617
This was taken with a Fuji panoramic film camera in the Columbia river gorge last spring.
