Obviously neither this mobile phone nor this webcam are that old! What is though, is the design of the lenses that both use for imaging.
It is hard to believe that the Carl Zeiss Tessar four element lens was developed for film cameras 100 years ago and is still around today.
It was an East German version of the lens that I had on my first SLR - a Praktica; Sony use zoom versions of the lens on some of their Cybershot cameras.
These miniature versions,which have found their way onto mobile phones and this webcam, are included as mark of quality. They promise sharp, clear pictures with few aberrations, good contrast and saturated colours. I think I can concur with that.
