Video Camera Price Comparison
On the internet, a price comparison service (also known as shopping comparison or price engine) allows individuals to see different lists of prices for specific products. Most price comparison services do not sell products themselves, but source prices from retailers from whom users can buy.
We know, price comparisons don't truly qualify for hot deal web sites but they're handy little devils for finding the best price. Agree?
using price as a means of comparing two or more products in order tojudge: (a) their likely quality in the absence ofother information; (b) which offers the best valuefor money.

A video camera is a camera used for electronic motion picture acquisition, initially developed by the television industry but now common in other applications as well.

I woke up in good spirits today! Usually it is late morning or early afternoon before I stop growling :-). For the past week or so I have been feeling a bit like a prisoner in my home thanks to the near record breaking outpouring of pollen. So, I decided to leave the house today. On the agenda? Shopping, lunch, visiting a friend, spending a wee bit of time with my folks and some photography. This was a really great day from beginning to end, so I've journalized it with the picture.
First order of business was to do some comparison shopping for a good price on generic Zirtec. CVS wanted almost $1.08/tablet! Wal-mart was much better at 24.5 cents per tablet, but the winner was Wal-Greens where it could be had for 13.3 cents per tablet. So I was pleased that about 20 minutes of shopping yielded an almost $30.00 savings (I bought a box of 300!). Now I won't have to think about THAT for another year :-). YAY!
Picked up some lunch and then headed over to visit an elderly friend and took the time to take some pictures at the beginning and end of our visit. I took this shot from her yard and was very pleased with it considering the lighting conditions. Those azaleas are between 35-40 years old and some are between 7 and 8 ft. tall!
After visiting my friend, I walked next door to talk for a short while with my parents who were working on breaking up the clods of dirt in their freshly turned soil. Dad swore that next year he was going to get a tiller, but I've been hearing that for about ten years now :-). Problem is, where we live in the piedmont of Georgia, the soil is hard pan and you have to put out some money to get a tiller that is up to that challenge. But, since I'm allergic to the mold spores that are released when soil is being turned, I had to leave. My lungs have been struggling enough this week! I probably shouldn't have spent so much time outside today, inhaling all that pollen (not as bad as last week), but I decided that I needed to nourish my mental health with a bit of photography and made that the priority today.
On the way home I was held up by a local parade! Couldn't believe it because I've lived in this county for more than 35 years and had never seen one. Anyway, since there wasn''t anything I could do about it, I just sat there for about 10 minutes and enjoyed it. I kept wishing that my camera wasn't so far out of reach because that would have been a fun opportunity to test out the video recording capability of the camera. Was kind of afraid to get out of my car to get it, but then I always worry that if I keep it in the passenger area, it could become airborne and dangerous in the event of an accident.
A lovely day ended with going out to dinner with my husband.
For all of this and so much more, I'm grateful. Now I just need ya'll to pray that I don't end up in the hospital for succumbing to my need to play with my camera and have some fun!
Testing the LX3 at John Lewiss 1
With Flash.
Carried out a crude comparison of the top 2 compacts in the bridge class by just trying them out at Jessops in Stockport and John Lewiss in Cheadle.
At the end of the day, I want to choose the one that's going to provide the most pleasing pictures for me.
This collection of images is organised as follows:-
10 shots taken with LX3 at John Lewiss, Cheadle.
4 shots taken with LX3 on macro setting, at John Lewiss, Cheadle.
6 shots taken with g10 at John Lewiss, Cheadle.
3 shots taken with g10 on macro setting, at John Lewiss, Cheadle.
3 shots taken with LX3 at Jessops, Stockport.
2 shots taken with LX3 on macro setting, at Jessops, Stockport.
6 shots taken with g10 at Jessops, Stockport.
3 shots taken with g10 on macro setting, at Jessops, Stockport.
The LX3 won hands down! No contest! The reason: Fast f2.0 lens and superior sensor made it possible to choose lower iso's thus giving me better shots for the given conditions. For snapping, I won't have control of lighting so the LX3 is going to give me better snaps.
Visibly crisper images. Higher dynamic range and more vibrant colours produced by the in camera DSP.
Also, g10 really struggled to focus at macro setting (see images later on).
g10 also gave a more washed out appearance in it's images.
Take a look for yourself through this collection and see if you agree.
Footnote:
JL failed to price match so I ended up buying the LX3 from Jessops. They are currently offering a 10% discount (Dec 2008) making the retail purchase from Jessops, cheaper than any offer I could find online. Jessops customer service has been superb and I recommend you buy frorm them for this reason as well as because you can be sure you will be getting the official EU version of the LX3 wich appears to be inferior to the version available in the rest of the world only because they have had to put in a restriction on video recording length to 15mins in order to satify EU legislation which would have forced them to market the camera as a movie recorder otherwise.
Have been going trigger happy with my new toy and will be posting all my shots here soon. Watch this space!
