Part of a raised-floor system. The floor tile is a removable component that is commonly 2ft x2ft. Floor tiles are made of hollow metal or filled with concrete or wood.

Our order at Lowe's was extremely messed up, and so we found out too late that we didn't even have enough tile to finish the floor, let alone the shower. Lowe's was good to us though, and ordered the new tile quickly and added a significant discount.
