Peggys Cove Lighthouse 11-11-11 1pm
Tropical Storm Sean brought some strong winds and around 100mm rain today.
I dared to go out to capture some stormy images at Peggys Cove. Although I had waterproof clothing, I was quite wet after a few minutes shooting. The rain was coming down in buckets and the coastal wind did not make it better either.
The 5D is weather proof, but I had a plastic cover on it to protect it from the elements. It remained dry, only the filter on the lens got some rain.
Update on the camera:
It all started with some difficulties with focusing, but it was still OK. When we got back to the car, I turned off the camera and put it away. A few minutes later I heard shutter noises... We found out that it was my camera, giving out shutter noises (like 8 frames per second)... It was turned off!
When I turned it off, it showed ERR 01 (camera cannot communicate with the lens). I had to take the battery out. The camera was not exposed to the weather, it was totally covered when I was shooting with it - well, and it's weather sealed too.
I tried it this morning too. I have the lens off, when inserted the battery, it started acting up immediately. The shutter shound, ERR 30 error message, self timer LED flashing. So I have to take it to Canon Camera Repair to see what they can do.
15th Nov. 2011 - Update: The camera is back to normal. Most likely some moisture got in the camera - although it was not exposed to the rain, the 100% humidity did not help. Happy to have my "friend" back...
