Last week, one of the counterbalance springs on the dishwasher door broke and disappeared in the farthest recess under the kitchen sink cabinet. A find for some future archeologist.
It left us quite started by just how heavy a dishwasher door with only a single support is. A quick web search turned up the needed replacement parts along with hints from ordinary folks about replacing them.
Two days later, the new springs and connectors nubs had arrived. Replacing them took all of 15 minutes under the unit. Now the tension is so taunt that the door won't stay down unless we roll the bottom rack out.
I feel so handy.
