Flood
I was woken up at 8am on a Sunday morning by a man in my bedroom knocking on the door and telling me "It's an emergency, we had to come in. There's water in your apartment."
Now, I'm on the 38th of 39 floors, so the liklihood of something going wrong in the apartment above me is pretty danged unlikely, no?
Nonetheless, the apartment above the one adjacent to mine had a problem with its dishwasher hose and leaked water five floors down, including into the one directly next to mine.
I got water not from the ceiling, but creeping in under my front door from the hallway.
So they tore up my carpet in about ten minutes flat and came in the next day to remove the baseboards (which a week later still haven't been replaced yet).
Thankfully they replaced the carpet before I had people over for Thanksgiving (the day before) but it's still a hassle. It could've been worse, though. I didn't really have that much stuff in the hall closet yet, so I didn't lose too much.
Leaky Pipe - 205/365
Apparently there was a small leak in the dishwasher hose, which we found out after a mouse somehow got into the house and chewed through the hose. We tore the floor up only to find a much larger problem. Looks like we're remodeling the kitchen a little sooner.
