This is how we do intervals on our bicycles in Alaska. We pedal along enjoying the warm sun, the cool breeze and pleasant company. Then we see this sign and it's time for our game face. Pedal like your life depends on it; lungs burning and lunch gurgling up in the back of your throat. Only back off when things get dim, like someone's turning the lights off. You'll be about three quarters of a mile down the road by then. Relax, recover, and do it again on the way back.
