This is actually my second attempt at this shot. The first attempt was post-shower one with some crazy hair and spirals drawn on my face. This is post-shower two with no spirals because I forgot about them until I uploaded. Boo, I liked the spirals.

Feeling a tiny bit better. I tossed and turned for hours and hours and randomly started crying harder than I've cried in a long time. I didn't know why and I couldn't stop. I talked to my mom about it today and she said I probably flipped out because:
1. My hormones are psycho anyway.
2. I have two weeks to get out of my apartment and still haven't found a place to live.
3. I am sick-sick-sick.
4. Work is always broken and that means I work longer days.

I accepted that answer. I still felt somewhat crazy for freaking out without even warning myself.

We looked at a house today. I don't know what to say about Tazewell County, Virginia. It actually (in a sick and not-so-bad kind of way) reminds me of the Dominican Republic. You have the people with money and nice houses; you have the ones with garbage, animals, and automobile (and household appliance) parts littering their yards. The house we looked at today was...worse. It looked like one good shove and it would come tumbling down the mountain it was stapled to. To reach the house, I would have had to hands-and-knees crawl holding onto miscellaneous plants and roots. I can't imagine trying to move furniture into that place or carry a baby. It was impossible. I am thinking that what the landlord called "nothing fancy" loosely translates into piece of trash. We would have had a bunch of new cats too as that was the only sign of life we saw on the road and happened to be on the porch. I am mildly distraught (read: an emotional mess) about STILL not having a place. We have one more place to see. The girl is in the process of moving out. This last one is the one that we'd "settle" for because it is not what we were looking for in number of bedrooms or distance from my workplace.

Old glasses today because I missed them. :) Might change back for a while. They're bright and I need some brightness.

Here are some photos from the James Monroe Birth site LD refresher program. Virginia Federation of Garden clubs sponsored the program at Colonial Beach VA on Historic Garden restoration. As part of the refresher the attendees along with people from the community including the VA Dept of Forestry, Westmoreland County extension service, Ingleside Winery, Local Master Gardeners and local Boy Scouts. All had to be approved by the Army Crops of Engineers, County of Westmoreland and their board of supervisors, state of VA We studied a LD Master Plan developed from Nelson Bryd Landscape Architects from Harrisonburg, VA. The site was also approved by the National Historic Preservation Society since the site is on the national historic records. NGC awarded a grant to help with the project. The VA LD Council contributed funds and had a historic plant sale. The County of Westmoreland also funded a professional LD firm to come in and do the site development for the VFGC garden at the James Monroe Birth site. Since then a lovely reception building has been built. The new James Monroe Foundation is in control of the site. Westmoreland County still handles the garden maintenance along with local and state wide garden clubs.
The GARDEN landscape plan was in the shape and size of the Monroe home as discovered from archeological digs at the property over the last 50 years. The VFGC garden the first clean-up and planting on the property once riddled with rubbish such as old car parts and kitchen appliances. Research was done through the Bureau of Historic Plants at Monticello in Charlottesville to insure accuracy as to what plants would be common in the historic time period. From the garden there has been much interest in having the site look inviting to visitors.
