10th July: Return of the bike
All was as normal this morning until Matt wandered downstairs in jeans and t-shirt and announced he'd taken the day off work. I'm not sure why it was a secret, perhaps he didn't want me making plans for him, adding to or messing up his todo list (he had printed one out, all neatly like).
Anyway the bike has been primped and greased and whatever else it takes to get such a hunk of metal, spokes and gears roadworthy again after a 2 year hibernation. There was even talk of one of those little toddler seats for J.
the kid-hauler
We are a bike-family. I got the Topeak suspension seat for him at a yard sale for $13 before he was born. The bike is a nicely preserved 1987 vintage MountainKlein w/ Deore XT. Handlebar bag for sippy cups and snacks, and hides the turtle-horn on the right side. Extra pounds on rider courtesy of passenger... He's good for about 30-45 min back there before getting restless.
