    safety valve
  • A valve opening automatically to relieve excessive pressure, esp. in a boiler

  • The safety valve is a provision in the Sentencing Reform Act and the United States Federal Sentencing Guidelines that authorizes a sentence below the statutory minimum for certain nonviolent, non-managerial drug offenders with little or no criminal history.

  • A means of giving harmless vent to feelings of tension or stress

  • a valve in a container in which pressure can build up (as a steam boiler); it opens automatically when the pressure reaches a dangerous level

  • A safety valve is a valve mechanism for the automatic release of a substance from a boiler, pressure vessel, or other system when the pressure or temperature exceeds preset limits. It is part of a bigger set named pressure safety valves (PSV) or pressure relief valves (PRV).

    controlled
  • Determine the behavior or supervise the running of

  • Maintain influence or authority over

  • restrained or managed or kept within certain bounds; "controlled emotions"; "the controlled release of water from reservoirs"

  • (control) a relation of constraint of one entity (thing or person or group) by another; "measures for the control of disease"; "they instituted controls over drinking on campus"

  • Limit the level, intensity, or numbers of

  • exercise authoritative control or power over; "control the budget"; "Command the military forces"

    subsurface
  • Subsurface is the seventh studio album by British progressive metal band Threshold. The album was released in August 2004, and received an Album of the Month award in several European music magazines.

  • The geologic zone below the surface of the earth; includes rock and sediment materials lying near but not exposed to the earth s surface.

  • The stratum or strata below the earth's surface

  • beneath the surface; "subsurface materials of the moon"

    surface
  • The area of such an outer part or uppermost layer

  • The outside part or uppermost layer of something (often used when describing its texture, form, or extent)

  • The level top of something

  • coat: put a coat on; cover the surface of; furnish with a surface; "coat the cake with chocolate"

  • the outer boundary of an artifact or a material layer constituting or resembling such a boundary; "there is a special cleaner for these surfaces"; "the cloth had a pattern of red dots on a white surface"

  • on the surface; "surface materials of the moon"

Boiler Steam Valves & Damaged Asbestos Insulation

Boiler Steam Valves & Damaged Asbestos Insulation

View of two large steam valves associated with a industrial-type boiler, both are insulated with an asbestos mud material and an outer canvas covering, however one shows significant damage to the insulation. The formed asbestos mud insulation appears to have delaminated from half of the rounded outer surface of the metal pipe valve and is hanging in place while still attached to the unseen other half by its shared canvas wrap.

Drilling vent holes

Drilling vent holes

The safety valve inner adjustment piece gets 6 venting holes at 15 degrees which is started with a milling bit and then drilled under CNC control.
