  • (Check valve) A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a mechanical device, a valve, which normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.

Tim and I strolled along the Charles River near the Harvard residence halls. (That's Eliot House, a Harvard residence, on the right.) We were heading for the Anderson Bridge, in the distance. Harvard Stadium is across the bridge, on the Boston side of the river.
