(Gate valve) A valve with a circular-shaped closing element that fits securely over an opening through which water flows. A valve that utilizes a disc moving at a right angle to the flow to regulate the rate of flow. When a gate valve is fully opened, there is no obstruction to the flow.


(Gate valve) A gate valve, also known as a sluice valve, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid.


(gate valve) A type of valve in which the closing element (gate) is a disc that moves across the stream, often in a groove or slot for support against pressure.
