Ductile Iron Sluice Valve
- Ductile iron, also known as ductile cast iron, nodular cast iron, spheroidal graphite iron, spherulitic graphite cast iron and SG iron, is a type of cast iron invented in 1943 by Keith Millis.
- Nodular or spheroidal graphite cast iron produced by residual magnesium remaining in the iron after ladle addition of magnesium.
- molten iron treated with an element such as magnesium or cerium to induce a measurable degree of ductility to the metal; these additives do not affect galvanizeability

Went out to a jobsite on 3/18 with a few of the guys from work to watch some 36" water line being installed. I had never seen that large of a water line be installed before pretty cool stuff. This is the bell end of a joint of ductile iron pipe.
