Hoda 2
After many years in the workforce in Egypt, her home country, Hoda Baghet is stepping back into the classroom.
Since coming to Canada in December 2008, Baghet is facing the same issue that many new Canadians face; difficulty breaking into the workforce.
When Baghet and her family came to Canada from Egypt, she graduated from Mansoura University with a bachelor degree in early childhood education. She has 15 years of teaching what would be the Canadian equivalent of kindergarten as well as three years experience managing the human resources department of a pharmaceutical company.
But, her experience hasn’t translated into a job in Canada.
She has not let that deter her from accomplishing her goals. She has started taking the YMCA caregiver training program and classes with the Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services to improve her qualifications.
She is also taking business planning workshops at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development in hopes of one day being able to be eligible to open her own daycare center in Halifax.
