Dernier vlo pro de Eugne Letendre, puis Jean Robic .
Righty ho, Peugeot team bike, circa 60. There's a guy out there in the "collecting world of experts" who doesn't like this bike and has said so. His problem. It belonged to Pro racer Eugene Letendre. I bought it from him. Looks wrong doesn't it ? Like some gear is WAY toooooo modern. So it can't be original. Dumbkopf reasoning. There is no such thing as a original racing bike. Racers change things, they have these awful powererful legs, they crash and break things... Then this bike has a special history which explains gear like Mafac 2000 brakes, Simplex SLJ, later Stronglight crankset. Letendre rode with and befriended Jean Robic. Robic made a bad reconversion, even was employed as a referee in trumped (euphemism) wrestling matches. He was very small, the crowd loved it when the wrestlers threw him out of the ring... Depression. His pal Letendre took him on, gave him a job in his transport company. Robic's race bike was stolen (or something). So Letendre lent him his for veteran category racing. Robic was even smaller than Letendre. No hassle, Robic rode the bike as shown: bars and saddle on the top tube, as low as they'd go. I got documentation ? Sure. Enough documentation ? Never. Because there will always be somebody out there who for some reason will say "yeah but like you know how do you know that the documentation isn't fake" or "I have a picture of the rider riding another bike". Like I have pictures of me riding 50 different bikes...
