Spring's arrival will have many riders turning up the pace as training accelerates in preparation for racing seasons.
Already in Europe some of the early spring classics have been run and there are more to come.
At home, longer days and warmer temperatures are encouraging me too to dust my road bike and pump up the tires. Some great events are coming to Victoria and area and I want to be ready for the big rides.
My attraction to cycling goes way back to the 70s and along the way I've had chance to check out some of the best, including the World Championships that came to Colorado Springs in 1986,
It was a great, if short, trip down from Vancouver with some of the guys from Rocky Mountain Bicycle Company, but well worth the journey. Here's some of the action from a wet day on the mountains as the world's best women riders took on the tough course
