I scrapped my other entry for lighting an interior space, as I decided trying to cram an entire room into the shortest possible focal length left a lot to be desired. Not only did it result in distortion and stretching of the space, it missed what the room was about.
This time I decided to capture what really made an inviting and interesting space and for me it revolved around the waypoint of the home. The important milestones of our lives build on the surface and ever few days some are stored carefully away as moments, magnets and scribbles are bestowed in kind
Strobist: I had a little micro slave that was supposed to accent the pictures and drawings on the fridge but it failed to fire, just as well because this is the right shot. I handheld a 33" Shoot-thru @cam RT with a Cactus KF36 @1/2 with the goal of accenting the fridge and spilling enough light into the adjoining room so that it reached the open door. I tried various angles and this was the one I liked best. Ambient was exposed a few stops down to bring in light from the door onto the threshold. From a lighting standpoint some of the shadows are blocked and there are some blown highlights but, I don't think it matters as I like it much better than some of the "correct" exposures. Monolithic refrigerator
I came across this monolith in the aisle of the local home improvement store, and 'Also Sprach Zarathustra" started playing in my head.
I can only assume that it's a leftover 2001 model...
