I took my six-year old son, Joshua, out for an ice-cream cone, and he knows of my love for this expedition into the heart of humanity, taking photos of great faces throughout Los Angeles. As we walked back to the car, we both saw her - her pink & scarlet-crimson- carmine hair caught the attention of us both. She was sitting at an outdoor table behind the Von's supermarket store in Studio City, looking into a tiny compact mirror as she slowly applied mascara to both of her eyes. My son sat down at a table beside her, patiently, and instructed me to wait until she was done with her makeup before I made my official photo request.
So I did. I was less patient than was Joshua, but we both waited calmly, and when she was done I popped the question, and she flung back her head with a certain pride and said, "Sure, go ahead." And so I did, as Joshua looked on with approval.
