Partly as a form of creativity, I tried tilting the camera to give an edgy effect. If you just glance at the picture I feel that the purpose was fulfilled. If you really examine the picture carefully it looks a little strange...


This was the second "stage" that we chose to do the shoot in. There was one maple tree in our vicinity that still had its leaves, and they were the brilliant autumn colors that one would expect. I wanted to incorporate those colors into some of the pictures.

The post-processing varied from setting to setting within this set, but generally involved increasing the contrast and saturation, adjusting the black point, and lowering the saturation of individual color channels (particularly the blue, as Janelle's hair took on a bluish tint when the overall color saturation was increased).

Center-weighted metering mode was used. Exposure on-camera was generally set to -0.7 ev because otherwise Janelle's dark clothing seemingly caused the camera to increase the exposure time.

Janelle did the makeup work herself, based on my suggestions. We used a dark plum-colored lipstick and Janelle lightly applied eyeliner. Some other makeup was also used...

This was taken with an Olympus E-520 and Leica D Summilux 25mm f/1.4 ASPH lens, wide-open at f/1.4 (I could have afforded to stop down a bit here - I like the bokeh, but if the scene were a bit more defined it may have been slightly nicer). This was taken hand-held with image stabilization off (as I'd heard that keeping it off could help avert front-focusing issues with this lens - unfortunately that wasn't the case). Image was post-processed in Apple Aperture 2.0 from the RAW file.

This was taken in Central Park, New York City. All-natural light, mid-afternoon.

With the makeup now applied, the girls dolled me up in this red top, black leggings, and a pair of red sandals with four inch heels. A blue underwire bra and light red camisole supplies the support and bounce up front. Full makeup and dangling earrings complete the look. One of the girls then suggested that I take this shot to highlight my soon-to-be vibrant night.

After the shot, the girls insisted that I change back into my blue-green spaghetti strapped top and skirt. The black leggings were covering too much of my legs. Only a short skirt would allow others to explore my cleanly waxed legs.
