day 85; a gal's day
The day began with a disaster. In a big hurry I broke my preciouss round kinda lennon sunglasses; so here I am, heading to Porta Portese, the big marche au puces in Rome; so I bought my sunglasses and a bonus pair, bigger but still round and oh so seventies :)) bought someother sweet nothings, kind of things that enlighten a gal’s day then ran away until I still had a few euros in my wallet; the thing is, I made the greatest discovery: just near the railway station is a bouquiniste, with very good books at 1 euro each; bought The English Patient, Cosi Parla Bonavista (mi raccomando) and Cyberspazio per idioti, by Dave Barry, which I devoured on train, beach, tram etc trying not to feel weird while gigggling and puffing in front of totally unknown people. Had to run from that bouquiniste too for I live on a low budget; but I’ll be back……you remember Arnold:)) so this is the moment of the moralising coclusion, which proves rather seldom true but nevermind: if something dear is broken you’ll get it back and with some lovely extrabonuses. If …
Yes, this is me, wet hair, feeling uncomfy about posting this; at Ostia, floating on the polite Mare Tirenna and watching le nuvole and the water around; soaking the salty air and reading Dave Barry; in Italiano
Ps: my spoken Italian is so rudimentary that it happens all the time to be addressed with a flow of words that make me feel afazic and to which I answer with a smile and some ferme approval gestures; doesn’t really work you know; or the humiliating “scuzi, non ho capito”; they just seem not to accept that not knowing their language is normal in some cases sigh. But reading is such a different matter…I wonder why
Thanks Nick!
When I was single I used to be afraid
No one would ever wed me and I'd die a sour old maid
Now I am married and (I'll send me down to weep?)
'Cause my husband chews tobacco and he snores in his sleep
Oh Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
When I was single I had fellas by the score
Now that I am married, well they don't come 'round no more
Now I am married and my husband's such a prude
He made me sew buttons on his flannel undersuits
Oh Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
When I was single, he always came to court
He used to bring me flowers and he always was a sport
Now I am married and well, what do you think
He bought me an apron and he showed me to the sink?
Oh Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
When I was single, I was jealous as a shrew
Of women and their babies, 'cause I wished I had one too
Now I have a baby. She's as sweet as any rose
But aint it aggrivatin' when you have to wipe her nose
Oh Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
Lord, I wish I was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
[da guys] Lord, we wish she was a single girl again
