Vivacious French entertainer Suzy Delair (1917) starred in many different films and was also famous in France as a singer of songs like Avec son Tra-la-la. For several years, the saucy star was the companion of film director Henri-Georges Clouzot, in whose films of the 1940’s she appeared.
Suzy Delair was born Suzanne Pierrette Delaire in1917, in Paris, France. During her adolescence she started playing bit parts in films and on stage. Her film debut was Un caprice de la Pompadour (1930, Willy Wolff, Joe Hamman). She had her first success in the music-halls and appeared in the cabaret of Suzy Solidor and the revue of Mistinquett. After small parts in films like La Dame de chez Maxim's (1932, Alexander Korda), L'Or dans la rue/The Gold in the Street (1934, Curtis Bernhardt, La crise est finie/The Crisis is Over (1934, Robert Siodmak), Poliche (1934, Abel Gance) and Prends la route/Hit the Road (1936, Jean Boyer) she finally made her breakthrough in the cinema with Le Dernier des six/The Last One of the Six (1941, Georges Lacombe). The film was based on a script by Henri-Georges Clouzot, with whom she was living together. When Clouzot became director, he offered two other big successes to Suzy Delair : the mystery thriller L'assassin habite au 21/The Murderer Lives at Number 21 (1942) and the classic Quai des Orfevres/Quay of the Goldsmiths (1947). It was in the role of entertainer Jenny Lamour in this thriller that she emerged to international stardom. After this success the couple separated.
Stunningly attractive Suzy Delair was a seductive actress with a natural acting style. She starred in films directed by Marcel L'Herbier (La Vie de boheme, 1945), Jean Dreville (Copie conforme/Confessions of a Rogue, 1947), Jean Gremillon (Pattes blanches/ White Paws, 1949), Christian-Jaque (1950, Souvenirs perdus/ Lost Souvenirs), Luchino Visconti (Rocco e i suoi fratelli/Rocco and His Brothers, 1960), Marcel Carne (Du mouron pour les petits oiseaux/ Chicken Feed for Little Birds, 1962), and Rene Clement (Paris brule-t-il ?/Is Paris Burning?, 1966). She covered all registers from drama to comedy. She appeared as will-of-the-wisp chanteuse Cheri Lamour in the last Laurel & Hardy comedy, the melancholy Atoll K/Utopia (1951, Leo Joannon). She also appeared in the Fernandel vehicle Le Couturier de ces Dames/Fernandel the Dress maker (1956, Jean Boyer) and in the hilarious farce Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob/The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob (1973, Gerard Oury) starring French comedy star Louis de Funes. She was a dancer and a singer, and her chanson Avec son Tra-la-la (1948) is an evergreen in France. She appeared in several operettas by Jacques Offenbach and Oscar and Johan Strauss. Her last film was Oublie-moi, Mandoline/Forget Me, Mandoline (1976, Michel Wyn). Since then she sometimes appeared on tv.

How to be a Flickr Rockstar:
You want to be a rockstar, but your friend know you aren't?
The people on flickr do not know you..so here is a quick guide on how to be a flickr rockstar!
Step #1 Lock the doors...last thing you want is for moms to walk in.
Step #2 Position the camera down low so it is not so obvious that you took the photo.
Step #3 Grab an instrument. Obviously you do not have an electric guitar (since you are not really a rockstar). In my case I used a hardcore mandoline.
Step #4 Make sure you have some visable tattoos. As you can see I have my kids names...I hear that is really "Gansta". No tattoos....that's what photoshop is for!
Step #5 Hold your instrument really low. Fact: The lower the more rock you look. Too high and it screams high school jazz band.
Step #6 Use a high ISO when taking the photo. ISO has a direct relation to what type of rocker you are. ISO 100 = Jonas Brothers, ISO 1600 = Radiohead, ISO3200+ = Some death metal band
Step #7 Last and probably the most important step, in being a flickr rockstar, is make sure you have lights behind you to get that really nice bokeh effect flickr loves!
There you have it..before you know it you will be fighting off the groupies!
