Day 56 of 365 (Year Three)

So I fell asleep after dinner tonight. I don't know why I was so tired today, but after starting a defrag on the laptop I fell asleep waiting on it to finish. I woke up around 11 and it was still defragging. I could have taken my shot then, but instead fell asleep again. It wasn't a conscious choice, but the next thing I know it is way late and I still hadn't taken my shot for the day.

I grabbed the camera and set up the flash and snapped a shot and there was no flash. I checked the settings on the remotes and triggers and everything seemed fine. I tried again as they do misfire from time to time. Still nothing. I switched out batteries for the triggers and tried again. Still nothing. For some reason when I put the cover back on the trigger it would knock the battery out of place causing the misfire. I tried a shot with the cover off and it worked fine.

Not wanting to waste a battery if I didn't have to, I put the other battery back to verify that it was indeed dead. It was, so I put the new batter back and mounted the flash on the stand and went to take my shots.

As if to punish me, it misfired again. This time it was the flash's battery that decided they were done working. I swapped those out and remounted the flash. I had to adjust the trigger batter yet again and got lined up to shoot and the flash failed yet again to go off. This time however, it was just the energy saving setting working as it should.

All and all, it was a real pain in the ass to get such a simple selfie for the night. I think it is time to start saving for better flash triggers.
