Triple Osteotomy, In-Cast X-ray
Well Hendrix was supposed to get his cast off today, but it did not happen. He has been walking on his leg, he is struggling with the crutches, and I just cannot guarantee that he will not bear weight. I called yesterday and explained the situation, so when we went to see the Ortho today and after being x-rayed in the cast they felt it would be best to leave him in for 2 more weeks, then do the best we can keeping him non-weight baring for 4 weeks after that. He handled it really well, and I was proud of him, I always rem ind him that the big question is: Do you want your hip to get better? The answer is Yes, so we do everything we can to make that happen, even if it's hard.
We went out for lunch afterwards and a man that had two hip replacements and lots of casts started talking to Hendrix, people who have been through similar experiences as children like to come up to Hendrix and give him encouragement, which I always appreciate. Hendrix told him that people from all over the world care about him and send him cards, how cute is that?
So two more weeks of stinky cast boy, I was so hoping to be able to bathe him tonight!!!
