2011 365 5
Day 5
January 5, 2011
I know what you're thinking - This isn't a good photo. If a project 365 is supposed to improve my photography, why am I taking crappy cell phone photos? Because photography is more than pictures. I took this photo because I wanted to share something important with you.
All of the images in my portfolio (shotbyjohn.com) come from ideas. Ansel Adams professed visualization. Great photographs are born in the mind's eye. After my minds eye (much weaker than Ansel's) sees something, I write it down in this Moleskine notebook. Some of these notes become my most cherished photographs. Writing down your ideas is incredibly important.
I won't get into a debate over whether or not a good 'ol notebook is better than Dropbox or Evernote, but I enjoy pre-digital things. There's something that feels good about seeing your own ideas in your own handwriting.
In my life, this notebook is probably the closest thing I have to a child. :)

ABOUT Mr. FIFRU
So... we met this guy during Christmas Breakfast... I was enjoying my scrambled eggs when all of a sudden.. he sat at our table, introduced himself as Mr. Fifru and simply ate with us... he has become our good friend and agreed to meet us every month as long as he gets his tea with him. He would like us (biscuits) to take him round our island and discover it... rigorously by night!! My fellow biscuits will add on to the story.. so watch out for their contributions!!
