  • Minor hockey is an umbrella term for amateur ice hockey which is played below the junior age level. Players are classified by age, with each age group playing in its own league. The rules, especially as it relates to body contact, vary from class to class.

A German class of teenage boys, most of whom are dressed in Hitler Youth uniforms. We know the age of one of the boys, Gunter Wagner (14) who is in the second row, middle of the picture, and not wearing a uniform (one of the few in civilian dress). The boys seem to be almost equally divided between those who wear knee socks with their short trousers and those who wear the more conservative long stockings (probably with Strapsleibchen [i.e., German garter waists] or perhaps the more grown-up Strapslgurteln [garter belts similar to Hockey garters]). One boy in the front row wears long pants or long ski knickers.
