Freedom Tower 2011
The Freedom Tower is to be completed in 2013, twelve years after the World Trade Center was destroyed by the terrorist attack September 11, 2001. It will stand 1,776 feet tall, three hundred twenty six feet taller than the original Twin Towers.
Ar the base of the Freedom Tower will be a plaza with two sunken memorial reflective absence pools filling in the foundations of the old towers to honor the 2,896 men and women who died as a result of the terrorist attacks. The planned adjoining buildings will be arranged around the Freedom Tower so that the sun's rays would emerge as a wedge of light from behind the new skyscrapers each year at the exact time of the attack to illuminate the square.
