Walking to heaven: a contrasting journey
It is believed a few syndicates are running scandulous operation in various parts of Kuala Lumpur city by using a group of handicapped people begging for charity. I do not believe the syndicates are making million dollar business out of this operation. However, I am pretty sure their business could generate steady stream of healthy cashflow everyday by dispatching their handicapped workers to the crowded strategic locations in the city. These handicapped workers are working hard in return for secured shelter and discent hot meals with assurance of social networking among their people. Their operation cost must be very low with great potential of maintaining fat profit margins due to the need to stay pitiful.
If they don't beg for those syndicates, I wonder what else could they do? Who else in this society could accept them as full time employees or true friends. The fact is, they are many care for these unfortunate people and that is why they are able to buy your symphaty with their appearance. However, they are very few great political or industrial leaders who really dare to create a functional socio-economic lifestyle system for them without using charity to support their business. On paper, these economists will say it is too expensive to develop such socio-economic system for the special people. Ironically, taking account of economic wastage or poor financial execution of national projects, a few percentile of such wastage maybe able to finance such projects for these special people to contribute their respective talented services back to our mass economy. Well, I am just a sand in the Sahara, I must admit it is a fact I can't change the world. On the positive side, I will do whatever I can to make a difference. At least, those I have helped will be benefited. So far, I have no idea how to help these handicapped people in more meaningful way except giving them part of my loose change. I hope their 'god father' will treat them well and be fair to them which I doubt dearly.
My conclusion is, no matter how bad the situation the handicapped workers are facing, they too want to find a permanent space in heaven one day. Nevertheless, it is a contrasting journey for them against the fortunate ones like me.
