Ok, so after last night's trauma of trying to clean frames, I felt 10 million times more intimidated when I walked in the gallery this morning and the cheapest thing on the wall was $1,100. So everything was priced between $1K and $5K. I'm just like, holy shit, no way is this happening. But I talked with the curator, and I was in such a panic attack freak out mode that I have no idea what I said or what she said. I just remember apologizing for the nasty acrylic front and cat hair.

Then she was like, so what were you trying to say? And I was like, uh, pull some feminist bullshit crap out of your ass. "Uh, it's about feeling put in a box with domesticity." And she's like, "Why is the cat there?" And I'm just like, "I don't know. She just got in the way."

And with the other picture she asked me, I was just like, well I duplicated the sides and cut off my head. Really no reason. Just happened, but it turned me on, so I just kept at it. Maybe I didn't say that. It was probably more like, "Gnargh, help. Look at my freckles! Those are pretty funny." but really it's all just, "I wake up at 3am, have weird visions and I have to make them happen. So far this has been my most successful medium. Leave me alone. When I can figure out why these things pop in my head, I'll let you know. And then they'll probably stop." My sub-conscious is like a gushing oil well that can't be capped....oooh, too soon. Seriously that is stressing me out. We're all going to die.

Back on track. So went to work and aside from a few really cute moments, had soul sucked. John had taken the day off to do work on his teaching work, so he was like, I'm heading downtown at 4pm to meet our friend and see the furries. SO SO SO SO SO JEALOUS. So around 7pm, I met up with them. Equipped only with the point and shoot, but dang we had fun. So that's this shot. And a few more great ones, but I figure I'll make a set. Oh, we were seated at a window seat at a bar across from the major hotel hosting this. I didn't venture outside until after two drinks and when our friend Megan was all like, "I need pictures with them." And then we started running in traffic. Those pics are reserved for the set because I want this one on top of my stream.

What great sports. We were obviously there to ogle, and man, their weird porn literature is out of this world...and the next one...and the next one...but they still posed for us. Whee! (Do yourself a favor and don't ask about the porn stuff. Curiosity killed this cat. How I started researching this is another story all together, and you're probably tired of reading.)

So, here's the Molga sitting on a Mechanical Chain Base 010 in my light box thing.

I've given it a gloss coat here. It took forever to figure out how. What finally worked was: Sunny but windy weather (fast drying times). I used the Citadel Gloss Varnish thinned with about 50% window cleaner. Also, I used my new more expensive airbrush with a finer needle,

This all contributed to a much finer coat than when I used water as thinner and a cheap gun (the cold humid weather made things worse too I think).

The stickers are of course gloss too, but it doesn't matter much since the whole thing is gloss. I can use enamel paints (they flow a little better along crevices) to make panel lines. Apparently they won't integrate with the acrylics based colors, and the gloss surface might make wiping off excess/misses easier.

A final dull coat will dull both the painted areas and stickers for a consistent look. Using a scissor to cut out the stickers worked better than a fine knife (which caused the stickers to slide around too much).

The gloss surface picks up fingerprints real easy, so I'll have to remember to clean it before the final coat.

This has been a bit of a learning piece so it has.... layers of abuse. Also, the gloss coat on the wheel moving lever thing added tons of friction, so now it won't go. I'll have to sand off that coat.
