A change of scenery from Australia's 'Red Centre' - I will post more from the Northern Territory sometime soon though. We have just come back from another trip up to the Gold Coast, the holiday strip of land on the very southern coast of Queensland and extending into the very northern coastal region of NSW. We went down to Tweed Heads from our accomodation at Broadbeach for a crabbing expedition in the mangrove swamp inlet region, that joins onto the Tweed River. A great day was had, accompanied by many different forms of birdlife - including lots of pelicans.
This is the first of some great pelican shots I got on that trip.

On our trip to the Gold Coast (where the pelican shots were taken) we were woken one morning by what we thought were noisy birds. On a walk a little later into a nearby park, we discovered it was fruit bats. There were hundreds hanging in the trees, with a few flying - I was able to capture this one in mid flight - also got a few of just sky!
