1870-S Gold $1.00 PCGS MS61
Mintage: 3,000
Between 1861 and 1869, this denomination was produced at the San Francisco mint. Just 3,000 were struck in 1870 and none were veer coined again. This date is fairly scarce in circulated grades and it becomes very scarce in then lower Uncirculated grades. It is rare in MS62 to MS63, very rare in MS64 and exceedingly rare in Gem. A set of SF gold dollars is a reasonably afford project that still offers the collector a real challenge.
