Neutral Density (ND) filters can reduce the intensity of light without appreciably changing its color. 8/26 - SX-70 w/ 600 film.

I've been past this tile on Alto Street a number of times and finally stopped to take a picture. It's one of my favs in the area.

Unrelated: Yesterday while watching football, I was also watching some auctions on ebay - I was trying to win some SX-70 accessories. I don't ebay that often so I am not an expert at last minute bidding and man, it was so frustrating. I was the highest bidder until the last 10 seconds and then when I tried to place another bid, the whole system got jammed up and I lost it. Then the next one said there were 13 minutes left so I thought, I'll wait 5 more minutes and then bid. When I went back, the bidding had ended so apparently ebay time is not real time. Both went for decent prices too so I was bummed. Anyone have ebay tips?

After a spell of film transplants, I took my SX-70 loaded with fresh 779 film (bought at the princely sum of A$10 per pack, if only more was available from the ebay seller!) and the ND filter from the SX-70 blend taped into place and voila! No blown out highlights and having to dial brightness all the way down (which isn't a fool-proof solution either).

Admittedly, the resulting shot's colours, contrast and brightness DO NOT match those of the SX-70 blend but for a replacement that's about half the price of new SX-70 blend film, it's a perfectly adequate solution.
