Nikon F3 (Non-HP)
Yeah, Santa frikkin rocks, even though he was a couple days late (my fault, not his).
Although I grew up a Canon sort of dude, I seem to remember the Nikon F3 giving me a boner when it came out in 1980. At the time I either had a Canon AV-1 or an AE-1, then later, I had a couple old model F-1's, then I got out of photography for several years.
About two years ago, I bought a Nikon DSLR over a Canon simply based on ergonomics since the features were pretty much identical. So it's only fitting that my return to film should be via the best film camera Nikon ever made. (I think they made it for over twenty years for a reason.) Coupled with a Nikkor 35-105 f3.5-4.5 zoom lens, I should be good to go for the time being. Of course, down the road, I envision a faster, wider angle fixed lens along with an f1.4 fiddy added to the set-up.
I got a couple rolls of Fuji 200 ASA er... ISO color print film to run through to test the meter and the mechanics, then it's off to Tri-X land. It should be a fun ride.
Strobist info: SB-900 (which is supposed to be backward compatible in TTL mode with the F3) at 1/4 power, camera left, fired by wire through umbrella.
Best Kerala Photography is alongside the backwaters of Alleppey !
A single helix of concrete stands tall in its red core and a white strand looping around it.
It carries the spiral code to check the water levels of the primarily water borne civilisation of ours !
And this is not the stairway that Led Zeppelin sings about even though it does reach lofty heights !
Life in Kerala exists on either sides of the backwaters in places like Alleppey (Allappuzzah), Kumarakom, Quilon (Kollam) and you see sights that amaze you and confound you and then you see them again on another day in a totally different light condition and the feeling and emotions are different. And you begin to see magic in life.
