Carpet demo, Kusadasi
If you go on a tour anywhere in Turkey, you'll eventually be taken to a carpet demonstration. It's more interesting and pleasant than it sounds, however. First things first...this is an Eastern culture, and hospitality is essential. We were seated and politely offered refreshments (our choice of Turkish coffee, apple tea, wine or soda, and some delicious bread rolls) before the demo began. The demo itself was fascinating...we learned a lot about the traditions behind the craft, about how such carpets are made, and about what separates the best ones from the cheaper ones.
Queen of Borderline
"Hengie,your make-up has melted
hengie,confide in cats
number more your steps
when you’re walking back home
oh hengie, dust your cinema-star rags!
Hengie keeps her tears in a bottle
of cheap french parfum
hengie brings it always with her
she’s a marilyn monroe fan
she’s queen of the border line.
Hengie never sings in the rain
hengie never spreads crumbs of bread
but there’s a little place in her mind
where she feels loved by the crowd
...the carpet rolls ...the flashes shines
welcome hengie:queen of the border line.
