TAGGED............
So I am now among the many who have been TAGGED!
Here are the 16 tidbits I thought I would share about me:
1. I hate beets, they taste like dirt!
2. I love old junk, antiques, thrift stores, cats, vintage things, and scrapbooking. I’m an artist and very crafty at turning junk into treasures. I’m addicted to flickr.
3. I’ve been married to my high school sweet heart for 29 years and we have one child……she is perfect!
4. It makes me cough when I stick a Q-tip in my ear.
5. I am a Christian and go to a southern Baptist Church where I sing loudly.
6. I believe in honesty, faith, and that tomorrow is promised to no one.
7. I’m southern…so I say things like ain’t, y’all, fixin to…..and all the other southern slang words….and sweet tea is the best!
8. I don’t smoke, never have, never will, but I will probably die from second hand smoke exposure.
9. I retired from banking with 20 years of service, do NOT miss it, and after 5 years can still remember the combination to the vault. Call me.
10. When I grow up I’m gonna be a size 6 fashion model.
11. I know first hand that ostriches do not like to have their throats tickled and that horses will bite you!
12. I could not out run my mama when I was little………
13. I once saw a headless chicken run and burnt feathers smell really really bad…..and you can not flush a fried chicken leg down the toilet!
14. I believe that slow person driving in front of me on a two lane road is an Angel----safely slowing me down, putting me in my place.
15. I’m afraid for the world in which we live in…and I want to make a difference in it somehow.
16. Yes…. I do know what dirt tastes like, I know that I’m never gonna grow up and I know that God has a sense of humor too. Ain’t life grand!
The Granville Barber Shop is located in downtown Oxford, county seat of Granville County. The barber shop has full-length windows opening to the street, with a barber pole and old-fashioned Coca-Cola sign with its name on it gracing the front. The shop contains four barber chairs with a dozen or so for customers waiting. There are military decorations all over the shop, including bumper stickers and flags celebrating all branches, especially the Airborne. The barber shop has the standard decorations – blue-and-white tiled linoleum, cases of hair products for sale. Most of the customers there with me were older and had known Mr. Slaughter for years. He asked them about their business, their grandkids, and drew their attention to a local boy who had died of an overdose recently. I didn’t contribute to the conversations, as I could not hear them all clearly. The experience was of another small-town barber shop in a small North Carolina town. The haircut cost $12, with a tip for the barber.
