Truetone Ringtone

There is no doubt that this radio was intended to sway the female buyer into the solid state radio market.... The cabinet is hot pink with a pearlescent reverse painted dial area giving it a very jewel-like quality. It's quite small, only three and a quarter inches tall and two and a quarter inches wide. (very similar in dimension to Toshiba's 7TP-21 and 31 which were also advertised to the female market).
I am uncertain of the manufacturer but I'm presently guessing Sharp. Sharp made radios for the U.S. Truetone brand and this IS a Lady Truetone. More info to follow.
Uses an old style 4 volt cylindrical battery which I do not have. The radio still works using an external power supply.
Boy's Radio, Truetone
Great orange cabinet. The name Truetone is a bit misleading, there's nothing 'true" about the tone of this thing, it's all treble and no bass. Well, I don't collect Boy's Radios for the sound quality anyways....many of them don't even work now. I find them to be wonderful examples of electronic history and they look so good.
An identical version of this can be found as a Londale or if you stood this radio up vertically, put a kickstand on the back you would have the "Star Lite" Boy's Radio.
