(Coffee Tables) While any small and low table can be, and is, called a coffee table, the term is applied particularly to the sets of three or four tables made from about 1790; of which the latter were called 'quartetto tables'.

ASPENS OF TUPPER: Medium Coffee Table
A counterpart to the adjacent image, this less massive, medium-sized coffee table was crafted in the same manner; although its pine top is not distressed. Nonetheless, its grain and knotty patterns were selected for the distinctive characters they would bestow upon the table's working surface. A simple pine cone medallion adds color and texture to the piece.
