Great Wall Engineering
I noticed some interesting details in the Great Wall's design that I hadn't really been aware of until I was standing on it. People often think of the Great Wal as some sort of "raised roadway" that just slices through China. To understand it's design you have to remember that when it was built, it separated China in the south from would-be invaders in the north. There are distinct differences between the north and south facing sides of the wall.
