Large Lamp Shades For Table Lamps
- (Lamp Shade) The shade serves the important function of blocking the glare from a light bulb and is usually the most decorative part of a lamp. The lamp shade can be made of glass, fabric, metal, or other more creative materials.

Self Portrait 1 Setup
Not the greatest space to be shooting, but this little corner of my bedroom provides the largest blank wall space in my apartment. Here's the setup:
Started with a table lamp, no shade, on a chair, a few feet in front of the wall. Judged the ambient for the background light, which was not great (1/60, f/4.5 @ 400).
Set my SB-600 (standing on my bed) ~80 degrees of camera, with a snoot. A few test shots showed the flash was nuking everything, even as low as it goes (1/64). Throwing a piece of tissue paper into the mix gave me 2 stops, providing nice exposures with the flash @ 1/32. (Time to get a couple of ND filters...)
With the background and the strobe set, I played around with reflectors, both silver and gold, self-held just out of the frame. Worked reasonably well.
The combination of tungsten and flash also worked well, with the WB set to Flash, making my very yellow walls much warmer.
