Thrifted: Vintage Tassel Lamp Shade
I'm getting a very Laura Ashley vibe here so I'm guessing 1980s, maybe 70s. LOVE the peacock feather pattern in muted shades and the long, tall shape. But there's so much more.
When I was about 16 I really started developing a personal style, mostly in fashion but it also made it's way into my bedroom. I bought all my purses from antique stores and I became very particular about decorating my room from them too. I had a job and I found, and still have, an incredible antique gentleman's wardrobe, a mod, white 60s bedside table, an absurd amount of vintage books, my aunt gave me some quilted pillow cases in different shades of purple and I topped it all off with a frilly black lace mosquito net. Drama queen? Moi? Pas du tout! I also had an obession with the novels of Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Anais Anais perfume, black and white films and black velvet frocks. Yeah, I wasn't like the blonde Australian surfie girls in my home town. Not one bit.
But the two things I always wanted for my bedroom, aside from a way to successfully smoke and sneak in boys undetected, was a 70s tassled lamp shade and a chenille bed cover, one of those ridged ones. The chenille cover still aludes me, for now, but finally the lamp shade has arrived. If only the rest of my bedroom wasn't in my mum's place in Australia. Although, that is kind of cool, like a museum dedicated to my teenage self.
Shade-yay or ney?
148/365. i found these taupe faux linen shades at walmart today. i haven't removed the plastic since i'm not 100% in love with them. i'll decide before tomorrow.
