Solid Wood Shutters
- Generally refers to furniture that is constructed using solid wood and does not include the use of engineered wood products.
- Solid wood is a term most commonly used to distinguish between ordinary lumber and engineered wood, but it also refers to structures that do not have hollow spaces.
- Solid wood means that it is composed of wood with no particle board or wood fiber. It's the resulting board milled from the tree. Au naturel, if you will. Solid wood may be hard (as from walnut) or soft (like pine or fir).

Colt provided a 4 cm wide 5-layer wood glue panel made from fir and spruce wood, which has been weatherproofed. By using the combination of these two types of wood there is less risk of the louvres deforming, compared to solid wood. Furthermore, a special coat of paint was used to further increase the weather resistance: the 50 cm wide and 2.9 metres long wooden louvres were painted with anthracite-coloured paint, which included aluminium pigmentation but left the surface breathable.
The louvres can be moved to the desired position for each floor separately with the help of an electric motor. When closed, the louvres function as a hard outer shell, while when opened, they convey transparency. The control mechanisms are concealed within the ceilings.
Stool - "108"
My final product for "Product Design 3" - a course at IPD, NTNU. The assignment was to make a stool with a height of 420 mm and a seat area of at least 250 x 250 mm. The stool was to be made from solid wood - either oak or ash.
@strobist: 2 studio strobes at grey seamless background, half power. gobo'd to not light the stool. 430EX in shoot through umbrella at stool, 1/4 power - roughly 3 feet away at camera right. Used simply ebay-triggers.
Shot at f/8 and ISO 200. The studio strobes were giving me problems with shooting at the 350Ds max sync speed of 1/200, so I dialed the shutter down to 1/160.
