Ahhh... Shade! - Eagle Slough Observation Deck
Today we worked on completing the shade structure at the end of the observation deck. We ended up going with lattice rather than a solid roof for reasons of airflow but really ended up liking the looks of the lattice much better than we had originally planned. Besides feeling more open and airy, the sun coming through the lattice casts interesting shadows, adding a lot of visual interest to an otherwise flat, open deck.
About 5 more boards and we are 100% done! At that point I am going to trade in my hammer and screwgun for a folding chair and a good nap in the cool breeze and finally enjoy some of our group's handiwork!
Oh, by the way... did I mention we also have a boardwalk, trellis, garden and kiosk to finish as well? If you have free time and are looking for something to do, give me a call!
Deck Gallery
Part of the skateboard deck gallery at FTC, Haight Street, San Francisco-California. I rode that first Kris Markovich deck back in the day (the one with the box of fries as the graphic). I've always liked Mike Carroll's first board on H-Street (top row, second board) as well as the Jeremy Klein from World Industries (bottom row, with the vegetables being chased by the candy bar).
