Temple Mermaid, Henna Painting
Acrylic, henna, varnish and glitter.
This is a smallish (9x12) painting that was inspired by temple sculptures in India - I think I must have been having an apocolyptic post human, earth under water dream!
This is an expanded technique because I am doing three or four layers of painting/henna/acrylic to give it more depth. I am adding a lot of shading/paint AFTER I do the henna and layer of clear poly.
Painted Bunting and Fremont's Cottonwood
Photographed at Fish Springs NWR, Utah.
Fremont’s cottonwood is a native tree growing in riparian areas near streams, rivers and wetlands in the American Southwest. The irony of this photo is there are no streams or rivers in the area. The five or six trees in this stand were planted to provide shade at a picnic ground.
